OpenSSI is available for Fedora, Debian and Red Hat 9. A version
for Suse 9.2 is ongoing.
The following are pre-built binary packages, designed for ease of
installation. If you are an experienced OpenSSI user and want to
work with the source, you can checkout a copy from our
CVS repository.
Note: There is a bug in the 1.2.0 release
that prevents clusters larger than 32 nodes from
forming. This has been fixed in the 1.2.1 release.
Note: There is a bug in the 1.2.1 release
that prevents nodes from joining the cluster
after initnode failover. This has been fixed
in the 1.2.2 release.
You can download a RPM
of the kernel source (41M)
for doing things like building third-party
drivers against it. This kernel source is the same
for all distro variants of OpenSSI. Simply install it
and you can find the source under
/usr/src/linux-2.4-ssi.
The Lustre(version 1.0.4) package for 1.2.2 will be available soon.
The Lustre version 1.2.4 is available for OpenSSI 1.2.2 but the kernel and the lustre package has to be built from source currently. Instructions are available: lustre-1.2.4-Howto.
Check that the installed version of glibc is equal to or greater than 2.3.2-27.9.7 $ rpm -q glibc
glibc-2.3.2-27.9.7
If the installed glibc is < 2.3.2-27.9.7, download openssi-rh9-1.2.0-glibc.i686.tar (21M) and install $ tar -xf openssi-rh9-1.2.0-glibc.i686.tar
$ cd openssi-rh9-1.2.0-glibc.i686
$ ./install

By far, the easiest to install version of OpenSSI!! Just
download the ISO image,
burn to CD, and boot the first node from the CD.
Other nodes can network boot using the first node
as a boot server. See the README for more information.
You can download a RPM
